About the 2025 S.T.E.P. Summit

The Fresno International Transportation Innovations / S.T.E.P. Summit 2025 is a global conference, assembling leaders in the transportation energy sector, along with policymakers, engineers, and advocates for sustainable transportation worldwide. The goal of the 2025 S.T.E.P. Summit is to promote innovations in sustainable transportation design, planning, and policy, focusing on alternative energy like hydrogen, biofuels, and electrification.

Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Partnership
Bill Elrick, M.S.
Bill Elrick is the Executive Director of the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Partnership with 25+ years in alternative fuel transportation. He leads industry collaboration on hydrogen station planning and serves on the California Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Advisory Committee. He holds an M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from Ball State University and a bachelor's from Indiana University.

Dr. Aly M. Tawfik is an Associate Professor of Transportation Systems Engineering and Founding Director of the Transportation Institute at California State University, Fresno. His area of expertise includes travel data and modeling, simulation, and optimization of individual travel behavior and transportation systems, where he has a particular passion for transportation sustainability and the future of transportation. Dr. Tawfik serves on local,national, and international transportation boards and committees. He is the author of many peer-reviewed publications, and has given keynote presentations at local, national and international venues

Nick is a private land use planning and development entitlement consultant.His company, INFILL 360, is located in Fresno, California, and serves the greater Fresno Metropolitan Area. Nick became involved in the City of Fresno Sister City Program at thirteen, spending several weeks in Munster, Germany,as an exchange student. Several years ago, due to his professional working relationship with the City of Fresno and his continued interest in international relations, Nick became interested in the Sister City Program again. For several years, Nick has proactively and progressively been involved in coordinating trips and exchanges and improving relations between Fresno and Munster.

Alexis Zane Alexander is a 4th-year undergraduate and Lyles College of Engineering Honors student majoring in Civil Engineering with a planned emphasis in Transportation Engineering. He is conducting ongoing research on mobility Big Data GIS tools and how they may be utilized to better understand transportation footprints within the Fresno region. Alexis helped restart the Fresno State Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Student Chapter as the 2022-24 President. He has also served as the 2023 Secretary for the Fresno State ASCE Student Chapter, and 2022 Secretary for the Fresno State XE Honors Society at Fresno State. Since Summer 2023, Alexis has been interning with Mark Thomas, a transportation engineering design firm based in California, as a Roadway Design Intern, and previously interned at Teichert Construction during Summer 2022.
